Pioneer Life

Life 100 years ago created many challenges for men and women as they strove to farm the land and make a home. Our museum features elements of the home on every floor.

Our three period rooms on the top foor of the museum are a kitchen, bedroom, and parlor. Highlights in the kitchen are a kerosene stove, stomper washer, Adams wringer washing machine, sadd irons, rug beater, and chimney cabinet.

The parlor features an early sofa bed, wall telephone and Victrola. The bedroom has a bedroom set, celluloid dresser set, quilts, night clothes, and even a doily stretcher.

Our fashion room includes wedding dresses, hats, bonnets, children's attire and furniture, jewelry, and hat boxes.

Unique pieces include a four-harness counter-marche loom, Ludwig drums, an Edison hand-cranked cyclinder phonograph, and an 1860 Wheeler & Wilson sewing machine.

As you leave Marysville on Hwy 77 going south, you may want to stop at the sod house in the Marysville City Park at 10th and Walnut.
